About Prose & Cons

Prose & Cons is a virtual book club app that aims to bring book lovers together to discuss and share their love for reading. The main features of this app include:

• Allows users to join book clubs for online discussions.
• Offers book recommendations through reading lists sorted in various categories.
• Includes discussion forums where users can connect with the community on various literary topics.
• Allows users to rate and review books

The goal is to provide an interactive experience for a diverse group of people to connect and make conversation.

The Design Process

User Research

To begin, I conducted primary research by creating a survey. This have me insight into what features users wanted in the app. For my secondary research, I did a competitor analysis, comparing major apps like Goodreads and Apple Books to inform the project. The survey and research helped me plan out a list of features to include in the app.

Planning

I started the design by making thumbnail sketches. I sketched out a rough draft of each of the app's pages on paper. Based on these, I then made low fidelity wireframes in figma. This helped me finalize the layout of all the elements. Lastly, I created the high fidelity wireframes and added prototyping.

Final Design

When working on the final design, I tried to keep the user in mind. When choosing colors, I made sure that there is enough contrast to make the words easily readable. I also included a voice to text button on each of the search bars to increase accessibility.
