Our main inspiration for this app was the struggle we see that disabled people face every day while navigating buildings and college campuses. The purpose of our app is to create a map to navigate the inside of buildings and it is accessible to those who are blind, because we use voice recognition to understand the destination and object detection to help them navigate their way around objects and pathways, and the app would also be reading the directions out loud. We made our app using code.org and Canva. One challenge that we faced was trying to find the right platform to make our app on because had high hopes for what we wanted our app to accomplish and some of the platforms were not able to achieve that. One accomplishment we are proud of was that we were able to make an app that uses different aspects of AI and different screens and interfaces. We learned that it can be challenging to make an app that has different aspects that are in-depth and innovative ideas. We hope to make this into a real app that can actually be downloaded on Android and iOS.
