Inspiration

I was once a pre-med student. Once shadowing under a general diagnosing doctor back home, I realized how corrupt the system can be for patients, as they desire to "treat" patients instead of healing them. Also, a friend of mine from high school passed away over winter break that sparked a deep desire to help people in need with AI in the future. She passed away from leukemia and she was only 20.

What it does

Apollo connects patients to the medicine’s manufacturer they need for low costs. The app also provides self diagnoses to give a general idea of the patient’s issues based on their symptoms. Through the refined scope, the AI will suggest them to a specialist based off the patient’s preferences such as insurance, social economic status, and severity of their illness, gender, ethnicity, etc.

How we built it

Through investments into the AI and the business. By developing an of this kind, it can revolutionize the medical world for patients. The foundation of the app of providing low cost medicines can be attained by partnering with medical manufacturers.

Challenges we ran into

This idea will challenge the entire order of the medical world. An AI that can replace general physicians will be challenged greatly, as it will reduce their market revenue and even potentially their jobs. Additionally, the monopolies of the medicine will not want for Apollo to exist and will most likely do everything in their power to prevent it from spreading so they can stay in control.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This idea can bear fruits for the patients and for society. By getting medicine for cheaper prices, people can live longer and healthier lives to their content. Apollo also plans to solve three of the main problems with the medical industry by providing cheap medicine, diagnosing more accurately, and finding patients proper specialists.

What we learned

For Apollo to come to life, there will be many challenges. The medical field is the bedrock for the economy and to change its structure this drastically will cause a backlash. Additionally, the AI isn't going to be easy to construct and implement.

What's next for Apollo

To get investments from people who believe in the vision and to gather the team to make the vision into a reality.
