Apollo the HealthBot

Inspiration

We were inspired by the arduous process of filling out a school screening form on a random government website every morning.

What it does

Apollo is a bot which puts event screenings into the format of a discord bot, making collecting screenings for large events simple.

How we built it

We built Apollo using pure Python.

Challenges we ran into

We had a lot of issues actually getting our bot to connect to our networks, as our certificates on our laptops were formatted incorrectly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of accomplishing our main goal within our timeframe, which is something we don't usually achieve during hackathons.

What we learned

We learned how to use the discord.py API, which took a bit of getting used to.

What's next for Apollo the HealthBot

We have a number of features that we begun building, but decided to implement a little later, as they were features that would take days/weeks of work. Firstly, we're working on implementing Natural Language Processing into our bot, to make it a far more interactive experience for users. Secondly, we're working on web scraping COVID data such as daily cases for different regions, and travel restrictions into Apollo.
