Inspiration

Our main inspiration came from students in our school. We have both seen students suffer from depression and social anxiety and we want to help them. It even came to the point where one of our good friends wanted to commit suicide. We wanted to create a safe place where students can talk about their problems.

What it does

The bot gives an AI automated response to each of the user responses. We tried to get AI to work but due to time constriction we couldn’t get it to work, so we are using a list of responses that one can say to the user.

How we built it

We built our project using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Most of it is writing in JavaScript. We used an open source code for the both and changed up part of it to make it match our project.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge that we ran into was trying to get the chat to work. We got the AI to work in Python but then soon realized that we can’t get it to work in JavaScript. We face this problem by using the open source program.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One thing that we are proud of is what we achieved through the time frame that we had. We didn’t think that we would be able to get the chat to work, but through hard work we achieved it. We also like how the website is formatted and how it looks.

What we learned

We learned many things throughout this project. The main one being time management and communication. We also learned more about AI and JavaScript. We didn’t feel comfortable in JavaScript, but I feel that using it in the project really forced us to learn more about JavaScript.

What's next for Apollo Project

We wanted to create an actual AI response system, that will take the user input and print something out after they say something. We feel that this can turn into something big and help students around the world.
