Inspiration

The gaming community's frustration with network limitations and the complexity of existing traffic control tools inspired API Tweaks. We saw players struggling with technical barriers, confusing documentation, and detection risks when trying to optimize their gaming experience. We wanted to democratize network control knowledge and make it accessible to everyone.

What it does

API Tweaks is a comprehensive educational platform that teaches network traffic control for gaming optimization. It provides step-by-step guides for NetLimiter setup, license management, and port configuration. The site features dual learning modes (Nerd/Chad), interactive tutorials, progress tracking, advanced search functionality, and a supportive Discord community for real-time help.

How we built it

Built with React 18, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS for a modern, responsive experience. We implemented lazy loading, code splitting, and performance monitoring for optimal speed. The architecture includes custom hooks for progress tracking, local storage management, and search functionality. We used Framer Motion for smooth animations and created a comprehensive design system for consistency.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing educational content with legal disclaimers was complex. Creating an intuitive dual-mode interface that serves both technical and casual users required extensive UX testing. Implementing robust search across all content while maintaining performance was technically challenging. We also had to ensure accessibility compliance while keeping the cyberpunk aesthetic.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Achieved 95+ Lighthouse performance scores across all metrics
Created an innovative dual-personality interface that adapts to user preferences
Built a comprehensive search system that indexes all content with fuzzy matching
Implemented WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance without sacrificing visual appeal
Developed a progress tracking system that persists across sessions

What we learned

User experience design is crucial for technical education platforms. We learned the importance of progressive disclosure - revealing complexity gradually based on user comfort level. Performance optimization requires constant attention, especially with rich animations. Accessibility and aesthetics can coexist beautifully when planned from the start.

What's next for API Tweaks
