Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea that modern AI and world-modeling tools can turn imagination directly into playable worlds. Instead of players being limited to pre-built maps, we wanted them to simply describe a setting like “a jungle city with ruined temples and zombie hordes” and instantly fight in it.

We also drew inspiration from classic zombie survival games and chaotic sandbox gameplay, combined with the creativity of generative AI. The concept of apes defending their territory against waves of zombies gave the game a fun, slightly absurd theme that fits perfectly with experimental hackathon projects.

What it does

Never Dead is a prototype game where players battle zombie hordes in AI-generated environments Key features: Text-to-Map Generation: Players describe a world (e.g., “foggy swamp with broken bridges and hidden caves”), and the game generates a new playable map. Dynamic Gameplay: Apes defend their territory using movement, positioning, and environment advantages. Procedural Environments: Each map is unique, making every playthrough different. Fast Iteration: Maps are generated quickly so players can experiment with different scenarios and strategies.

How we built it

Using WorldLabs for generating world from text, Meshy for generating character meshes and animating movement, and three.js for the game.
