Inspiration
As students looking for off-campus housing next year, finding apartments is stressful. It's hard to keep track of all the apartments we've looked at on different sites.
What it does
We decided to create a platform where students can store, view, and search/sort apartments that they're considering. We streamlined the process by adding selection options for common apartment features so that it's easier to input the information and compare across apartments.
How we built it
We used Node.js with the Kintone database, as well as HTML/CSS for the front-end.
Challenges we ran into
We had some issues with linking the forms to the back-end, with certain form fields giving inexplicable errors while identical ones worked fine.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we managed to overcome our errors and finish before the deadline.
What we learned
We learned about the Kintone database platform and how to use it and integrate it into programs. We also learned more about node.js.
What's next for ApartmentList
We'll be using it to keep track of our own apartments, and hopefully it might help other college students as well. We plan to add many more features, including the integration of a map API, and options to view the data graphically.
