Inspiration
Our project was inspired by the growing number of rental scams that have negatively impacted individuals seeking housing in Duval County, Jacksonville. We wanted to create a solution that would help identify fraudulent listings and protect renters, particularly college students and military families, from financial harm. After researching real-world cases where scammers posted multi-million dollar homes and fake college rental properties, we recognized that the problem is more complex than it appears—scammers evolve their tactics, making it challenging to detect them using simple rules or formulas. This challenge pushed us to explore more advanced machine learning methods to address the issue.
