Inspiration

I often watched my parents struggle with everyday household admin by losing receipts, missing return windows and dealing with unexpected subscription renewals. Even small mistakes like forgetting to replace a water filter or overlooking a warranty, ended up costing my parents money, stress and time. So we made an Ao2 tracker to help remove the invisible mental load, prevent avoidable expenses and help busy people to stay in control effortlessly.

What it does

Ao2 Tracker is a camera-first, AI-powered tool that turns every purchase into a protected, organised, and actionable asset. With just a scan, it extracts warranty terms, return deadlines, subscription renewals, and maintenance tasks — organising everything into three essential categories: Warranty Tracking Subscription Management Maintenance Tasks It then automatically generates reminders, schedules deadlines, and gives product-specific care tasks (like replacing water filters or cleaning filters).

How we built it

We used React.js and bootstrap to build the frontend of the website. OCR space was used to scan documents which were then fed into GPT in order to format this text into JSON. The warranty and subscription details are then saved on firebase, with a field that links to the user via an ID.

Challenges we ran into

Formatting the documents into a consistent JSON was rather challenging, but it worked out after multiple trials and errors.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of our biggest accomplishments was how we came together as a team to design a solution that personally mattered to all of us. Ao2 Tracker grew from real conversations about real problems, which made our solution feel meaningful, not just technical. We’re also proud that we were able to turn this idea into a functioning web app within the hackathon — complete with scanning, extraction, data parsing, and our own website. Even though the product isn’t fully polished yet, building everything from scratch, coding collaboratively, and deploying our own platform is a huge milestone for us. It shows how far we can push ourselves in a short amount of time, and we’re proud of what we were able to achieve together.

What we learned

This project taught us a lot more than just coding techniques. We learned how challenging it actually is to turn an everyday problem into a working piece of software from structuring data, to designing features users would actually click, to balancing ambition with realistic time constraints.

What's next for Ao2 Tracker

Our next steps focus on making Ao2 Tracker more intelligent, accessible, and collaborative. We plan to introduce a Shared Household Mode so families or roommates can manage warranties, subscriptions, and maintenance tasks together. We also aim to expand Ao2 Tracker with multilingual support to make the platform accessible to a wider range of users globally.
