Inspiration

As high school students, one of the scariest and least contributed towards issues that we face is test anxiety. We wanted to create an app that could help others like us organize our thoughts and hopefully be calmer before any given test.

What it does

This app has a main dashboard where users can list out their tests. When they add a test, they’re given three stages: the first is the studying during the weeks before the exam where users are able to create checklists on how they would like to study. The second page/stage is the preparing the night before to make sure they’re healthy. They can again create checklists to remind themselves to do yoga, sleep early, prepare their food the night before, etc. The last stage is the stage right before the test where the anxiety really sets in. We have an animation that users can follow to practice their breathing in order to slow it down and calm themselves down. We also offer the user the chance to add any motivational quotes that could improve their confidence and calm them down.

How we built it

We used a visual programming site called bubble in order to draw up all the UI and move between pages. Its code is an html5 client side app with data stored in the backend AWS cloud and uses REST API to talk to an API gateway in AWS to store data. Bubble supports custom plugins for us to add our own custom code. For our plugins which we integrated into bubble in order to see them, we coded them using javascript and html in replit. For the google oauth, we had to create an API key and secret where we input our URI link in order to get it to work.

Challenges we ran into

We had to do a lot of debugging and fixing up our code, and minor bugs could sometimes take hours to resolve. We also had to fix up the code for the breathing function when we added it to the actual site.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing the project!

What we learned

We learned that it's best to organize ideas into lists (like how our app does) and that drawing things out on paper simplifies everything so much. We’ve also learned so much about how to code and to slow down and look carefully through and think through our project before starting.

What's next for Anxiety Buster

Some extra features we want to add in the future:     ⁃    spotify, iTunes     ⁃    does a little quiz the first time to see if ur more of a perfectionist or worrier to customize results more     ⁃    send notifs for like do this do that     ⁃    shut down insta and snap and tiktok and all the apps an hour? before bedtime     ⁃    for added assurance and confidence boosting have loved ones create videos saying u got this: be able to add from photo library     ⁃    positive affirmations, practice saying them one by one     ⁃    something that says stretch/shrug your shoulders to relieve tension     ⁃    suicide hotline 988????
