Tens of millions of adults in the United States alone are affected by some level of anxiety.

What it does

ANX is an anxiety assistance tool for anyone who suffers from panic attacks or needs a break from stressful situations. ANX is a simple adaptation of the 5-4-3-2-1 mindfulness trick -- a tool that helps ground you to your current setting and break through a loop of anxious thoughts. ANX will guide you through questions related to physical senses and imagery - focusing your attention and pulling you back into the moment. with.

How we built it

We built the app with using XCode and objective-c and also used photoshop and stock image sites to create our buttons.

Challenges we ran into

We had issues working with photoshop for the first time and deciding the best way to help someone dealing with an anxiety attack -- in our group alone, we each had different tools for dealing with anxiety. We also had issues getting the images to load in our app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to come up with a simple design that wouldn't be too overwhelming for someone that is dealing with high levels of anxiety. We're also proud that we could implement text to speech functionality.

What we learned

We learned a lot about working with Photoshop and designing aesthetically pleasing layouts and how to use new languages and tools

What's next for ANX

We hope to add functionality that will allow users to send a message to selected contacts and notify them that the user is dealing with an anxiety attack and may need help. We also want to continue adding functionality that asks questions based on audio clips or allows a voice to speak to the user. Eventually, we'd also like to add the ability for the user to speak back.
