A good immune system is the best prerequisite for protecting yourself against infections. A focus must be placed on strengthening the immune system.

Inspiration

Background knowledge: Up to a fifth of the population suffers from influenza viruses every year and suddenly gets a high fever, cough, muscle and headache and an average of two to five colds a year. The pathogens are transmitted from person to person via droplet infection. Contagion can be dangerous for older patients and for people with chronic diseases such as heart or immune deficiency, because inflammation of the lungs, heart muscle or brain is more likely to occur.

SARS-Covid-2 is a cold virus that belongs to the group of corona viruses. The term “cold viruses” describes a smorgasbord of around 200 different types of virus from seven virus families. They all have one thing in common: antibiotics cannot be killed. Antibiotics only work against bacteria. Rhinoviruses most often trigger colds. They usually cause the nasal mucosa to become inflamed (rhinitis). Then the nose runs, the mucous membranes swell and make breathing difficult. Doctors know more than 100 different types of rhinoviruses. Annoying: with them you can infect yourself again and again. Corona viruses rank second among the most common cold viruses. Every fifth cold, according to virologists, is due to this virus family. In addition to typical cold symptoms, coronaviruses attack the entire respiratory system and the symptoms include cough, runny nose and hoarseness. Adults experience an average of two to five colds a year. Which symptoms you develop depends on your individual constitution. Even with very unpleasant courses, however, the following applies: You cannot tackle the cold with antibiotics. [1]

My inspiration: In January 2020 I was looking for a product that would kill cold and flu viruses in the mouth, nose and throat, protect my mucous membranes in the throat and strengthen my immune system. I wanted to protect myself against a cold. I was looking for a product that was easy to use - without prior knowledge. I have visited several drug stores and have not found any product. I found multivitamins, nasal sprays, cough syrup, various vitamins, nutritional supplements, trace elements, omega-3 capsules ... How should I know what the vitamins or trace elements do? After several visits to the drugstore and a disappointed visit to the pharmacy, I went online to find it, but also found nothing there. I wanted a spray that would protect me from viruses and strengthen my immune system - none! As a preventative measure, I took a small sip of ribwort Echinaecea (antiviral) cough syrup every day ... (I just didn't want to get a cold.) In the past few months, I have been studying the immune system, vitamins, trace elements, amino acids ... in detail. informed and I have now worked out the result for Corona + EUvsVIRUS. Here is my idea "AntiVir - immune booster".

What it does

The spray is sprayed directly into the “problem area” of the throat (strongest virus concentration). Almost 100% of the viruses that cause colds or flu viruses come through the nose or mouth. The throat combines nasal breathing with mouth breathing. The throat spray can kill incoming viruses / bacteria here, as some components of my medication (spray elixir) are antiviral / antibacterial. The product also has some components that strengthen the mucous membranes and inhibit inflammation or improve healing, and the absorption of vitamins can thus be carried out quickly via the mucous membrane and does not have to take a detour via the stomach. By combining medicinal plants, essential oils, vitamins, trace elements ... the product can protect and strengthen not only the upper respiratory tract (nose / sinus, mouth, throat, larynx) but also the lower respiratory tract (trachea, lungs: bronchial tubes; alveoli) .

The product has a fresh, pleasant taste. The product is vegetarian and shows this on the product packaging.

Intake period from October to March (flu season). Simply shake and spray into the throat 4x daily. B. in the morning, at noon, in the evening and before going to sleep.

If you don't want to spray the spray directly onto your pharynx mucosa, you can also spray it onto your food.

What does AntiVir do - the immune booster? The medicinal plants, essential oils, bitter substances are primarily intended to protect the upper respiratory tract, among other things through antiviral effects and strengthening the mucous membranes. The micronutrients (vitamins, trace elements, amino acids) are primarily intended to protect the lower respiratory tract and strengthen the immune system. A combination of well-known medicinal plants and micronutrients protects the entire respiratory system and strengthens the immune system.

The spray elixir is sprayed directly into the mouth, which causes the pharynx mucous membrane to be wetted with the elixir; this is not possible with a simple juice or tablets.

  • Viruses are killed in the mouth / throat area.
  • Virus load is reduced.
  • Mucous membranes are strengthened so that viruses cannot penetrate.
  • Anti-inflammatory: inflammation of the mucous membranes is prevented and healing is improved.
  • Bronchodilator: promotes deep breathing.
  • The production of white blood cells (leukocytes) is stimulated.
  • Free radicals are neutralized and cell damage is prevented.
  • phagocytes are activated.
  • The package leaflet also gives advice on how to protect yourself against viruses and strengthen your immune system.

How I built it

The product consists of 4 parts: product packaging, spray container, 2 package inserts (regular package insert / How to strengthen the immune system?) And elixir.

Spray Elixir: (The main ingredients with numbers.): Medicinal plants: Echinaecea (1), plantain (Aucubin) (2), thyme (3), ivy leaves, real guava, Aglaia foveolata (Silvestrol), horehound ... Essential oils: eucalyptus oil (4), peppermint oil (5)… Bitter substances: ginger (6), turmeric, Kalmegh (anrographis) ... Vitamins: Vitamin D3 (7) (cholecalciferol), vitamin C (8), vitamin A (beta-carotene), vitamin E, vitamin B12, vitamin K2 ... Trace elements: zinc (9), selenium (10), iron, magnesium ... Amino acids: L-carnitine ...

IMPORTANT FINDINGS!

1.) Echinaecea: The antiviral effect of Echinaecea has been clinically confirmed. There is evidence that Echinacea effectively lowers the risk of recurrent respiratory infections and their complications. Immunomodulating, antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects may contribute to the observed clinical benefits that appear most pronounced in susceptible individuals. https://www.rosenfluh.ch/arsmedici-thema-phytotherapie-2009-05/echinacea-wirkt-im-in-vitro-infektionsmodell-antiviral-und-modulator-die-sekretion-entzundlicher-zytokine Extracts from the medicinal plant Echinaecea can destroy coronaviruses including SARS (2003) in the pharynx, this has been clinically confirmed. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4058675/ https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-15282/v1 https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12325-015-0194-4

2.) Plantain: The plantain is a well-known remedy, it widens the bronchial tubes, is antiviral, antimicrobial, strengthens the immune system, and becomes anti-inflammatory. As a lung remedy, it protects irritated, inflamed mucous membranes, covers them with a protective layer of mucus and relieves pain when coughing and breathing deeply. https://www.karger.com/Article/Fulltext/358074

3.) Thyme: Both thyme oil and the ingredient thymol have an antibiotic and antiviral effect. Thyme is therefore suitable for the treatment of bronchitis and inflammation of the mouth and throat mucous membranes. The efficacy in inflammation of the upper airways and inflammation of the bronchial mucosa has been clinically confirmed. https://www.phytodoc.de/heilpflanzen/thymian

4.) Eucalyptus oil: Eucalyptus oil contains a large amount of cineol, which has a relieving effect on the respiratory tract. Cineol loosens the mucus in the lungs and sinuses and fights harmful bacteria. In this way, eucalyptus oil ensures free breathing for colds, bronchitis, hay fever and sinus infections. Last but not least, eucalyptus oil has an antibacterial and antiviral effect and thus supports the body in fighting the pathogen. https://www.zirkulin.de/ratgeber/eukalyptus-mit-eukalyptusoel- Gegen-erkaeltungen

5.) Peppermint oil: Peppermint oil is said to release mucus from the bronchi in the event of a cold and make breathing easier with a stuffy nose. Peppermint oil generally has disinfectant, antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal effects. https://www.pharmaceutische-zeitung.de/ausgabe-112014/ein-pflanzliches-arzneimittel-mit-langer-tradition/

6.) Ginger: Ginger has an antibacterial and antiviral effect. Ginger can therefore directly fight pathogens and stimulate the immune system. Ginger has also been shown to be effective against certain viruses, including RS and Rhino viruses, which primarily cause respiratory infections. It is particularly interesting that, unlike many antibiotics, ginger does not kill the healthy intestinal bacteria, but on the contrary actually promotes their growth. https://ingwer-funktion.info/erkaeltung-schnell-loswerden-mit-ingwer-und-ingwertee- Gegen-grippe/

7.) Vitamin D: The (naked) human body can produce vitamin D itself. In Europe, however, only between March - October and only between morning and afternoon. My product contains a daily dose of 4,000 IU. The skin of a naked person can produce around 10,000 - 15,000 IU at noon (30/45 minutes) in a cloudless sky (UVB radiation). However, the European has covered his skin with clothing and does not go out into the sun at noon or protect himself with sunscreen…. As a result, around 80% of Europeans have a vitamin D deficiency. However, vitamin D (prohormone) is one of the most important vitamins of the immune system. There is also a presumption that the flu wave (December - March) is related to vitamin D deficiency. In the southern hemisphere (Australia), the flu season is usually from June to October. By the way: Almost all older people have a vitamin D deficiency and therefore a poor immune system.

A large-scale study by the Robert Koch Institute shows that around 50% of Germans are not optimally supplied with vitamin D. Vitamin D not only has a building and shaping effect on bone formation. It is essential for a well-functioning immune system. In the case of vitamin D deficiency, defensive defenses and autoimmune diseases can occur. A vitamin D deficiency means that certain processes of the immune system, muscles and cell division can no longer run optimally.

There are receptors (Toll-like Receptor) on the surface of certain cells of our immune system. These are activated by pathogens and begin to activate the immune system, which in turn releases antimicrobial peptides (AMP, e.g. cathelicidin) to protect against invasive pathogens. Studies have shown that vitamin D activates cathelicidin expression. Vitamin D is therefore able to act on pathogens and colds.

Vitamin D, which was formed over the summer, is stored in the body and is then available in the winter months. Depending on how “filled” the stores are, these then last for several months or only a few weeks and there is a vitamin D deficiency, which can affect the immune system and thus also the disposition to colds. Maintaining a good vitamin D level over the winter months can therefore help keep the body healthy.

8.) Vitamin C: An increased susceptibility to infection is usually associated with a serious vitamin C deficiency. With the onset of a viral disease, the vitamin C level in the leukocytes drops within a few hours. Vitamin C affects numerous processes in the human body, but the most important is its effect on the immune system, which cannot function without vitamin C. However, it is probably best known for its properties as an antioxidant and for supporting a healthy immune system. Vitamin C primarily supports innate immunity. Vitamin C is particularly important in the "first line defense" against bacteria and viruses and particularly high in white blood cells that kill viruses and bacteria. In addition, vitamin C has an attractive effect on the immune cells (white blood cells or leukocytes) and promotes their production. A contribution of vitamin C to a normal function of the immune system is confirmed. Vitamin C eliminates free radicals that occur during inflammatory reactions. Vitamin C is considered a “radical scavenger” due to its antioxidant properties https://www.cetebe.de/vitamin-c/vitamin-c-funktion-im-koerper.html?hwg=1 http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v01n12.shtml https://www.eurapon.de/blog/das-koennen-nahrungsergaenzmittel-zur-staerkung-des-immunsystems-leiste/

9.) Zinc: A study in children and infants shows that a lack of zinc has an adverse effect on the immune system, among other things. A clear improvement could be achieved with the oral intake of zinc.

Zinc also became an antiviral property. Studies on human cells have shown inhibition of the rhinoviruses (cold viruses) under the influence of zinc. Zinc is also able to prevent cold viruses from attaching by occupying important binding sites (ICAM-1 receptors) in the mucous membrane of the nose. https://www.naturalie.de/vitamine-erkaeltung/

10.) Selenium: Selenium fundamentally promotes our immune system. In the case of runny nose and cold, the selenium requirement is increased by 30 - 70μg compared to the normal daily requirement, since selenium increases the number of natural killer cells and improves their function. This is how selenium actively combats viruses that cause colds. As a component of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, selenium is instrumental in eliminating oxidative oxygen species. Selenium is also an important trace element for infection control. Selenium deficiency is said to lead to more or less pronounced disorders of the interleukin-2-mediated effects on various cells of the immune system and thus to promote the development of chronic inflammatory diseases, which in turn should increase selenium consumption. The immune system is to be strongly stimulated by a selenium supplementation of 200 mg per day. Since a weakened immune system is often to be expected in old age, selenium supplementation should improve the activity of the immune system, especially in old people. Zinc and selenium in particular have an influence on the metabolic processes necessary for immune cells. They also influence the effectiveness of many defense reactions by promoting cell division. https://www.deutsche-apotheker-zeitung.de/daz-az/2005/daz-49-2005/uid-15078 https://www.eurapon.de/blog/das-koennen-nahrungsergaenzmittel-zur-staerkung-des-immunsystems-leiste/
