Inspiration

I wanted to bring education together with games and fun activities. I remembered watching the game Plague Inc, and decided that Plague Inc, is the exact opposite of what I wanted to make, hence the idea and the name Antivirus.

What it does

My game teaches people how a Virus spreads, and how they can take the first step to helping prevent such a virus from spreading. I hope this means that they will then apply this into their lives right now especially with the COVID-19 plague that is still at large regardless of the virus.

How we built it

I am an App Store developer with a developer's license so I am used to coding in Swift. This app was coded in Swift and was made in XCode. I used SpriteKit for everything: Animations, Transitions, actions, scenes, node, sprites, etc.

Challenges we ran into

I ran into a few challenges:

  1. A major one was lack of time, but I persevered and am really happy with the outcome.
  2. I had a lot of trouble with the actual back-end of the store purchases, but once again, I spent the effort and time to fix it eventually.
  3. Apple is giving me trouble with actually publishing the app, but I believe that eventually it will go through!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is the fastest game that I have ever made, but it is also the most animated, which makes me really happy to see how far I have come as to where I started.

What we learned

I learned a lot about animations, as well as color palettes as to what meets the eye and what people like to see in an app, based on recommendations from my parents and friends. I think this app turned out very well. This app also uses a lot of old concepts that I had made before.

What's next for Antivirus: The Game

I am working on getting this app through the App Store review team and published, so please, whether or not I am selected as a winner, it would mean a lot to me if you could share the word about my app to help slow the spread. Thank you so much for your time and judging, this really means a lot to me!
