Inspiration
Our collective hatred towards those Texas University dogs.
What it does
Tracks the face of an orange-wearing victim and shines a laser in their eye.
How we built it
Using python and OpenCV, we built a algorithm that detects a person's face and if he\she is wearing a TU colored shirt through the webcam. We then connected a (low power) lazer point to robotic joints. By inputting the coordinate data generated from the face detection algorithm to an arduino program, we have robot move the lazer towards the face of a TU color wearing person.
Challenges we ran into
- Constructing the shell of the robot.
- Coding: research, logic formation, debugging.
- Hardware issues such as servo overcompensation.
- Wiring and calibration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built an effective face and color detection system
- Successfully connecting the robotic join system
- Successfully coordinate computer-vision algorithm and robotic joint
What we learned
- Create detection algorithms with opencv
- Building with wiring and robotic joints
- Calculating the mathematics required to coordinate computer-vision algorithm and robotic joint
What's next for Anti-TU Tu(rret)
3D-printed or cnc'd shell, more accurate eye tracking, and a circuit-controlled laser pointer.
