Another World is an immersive open-world RPG inspired by titles such as AdventureQuest, Path of Exile, and Black Desert Online. Set in a vibrant, anime-style universe, the game invites players to explore vast landscapes, embark on engaging quests, and battle a wide variety of monsters.

Players can collect item drops of varying rarity, with a rewarding progression system that encourages the pursuit of higher-quality gear. The game features a robust armour upgrading system, allowing for deep customization and strategic enhancement of equipment. In addition, a companion pet system adds another layer of gameplay, supporting players throughout their journey.

With its blend of exploration, combat, and progression mechanics, Another World aims to deliver a dynamic and engaging RPG experience.

How we built it

I developed Another World by building upon a previous project titled High School Hearts. I reused and refined the core game structure, completely redesigning the visuals and assets, and implemented deeper systems to transform the experience into a fully functional RPG.

Challenges we ran into

I encountered an issue when implementing music, as the AI system created two separate sound modules. This caused audio to overlap or made it difficult for the game to reference the correct audio source, leading to inconsistent playback.

What's next for Another World

The next steps for Another World focus on expanding both content and gameplay depth. This includes introducing a wider variety of item drops, along with new pets and an upgrade system for pets to enhance their abilities. I also plan to develop additional combat areas, each offering unique challenges and rewards.

To enrich the world, more characters will be added across different villages, helping bring each location to life and offering new interactions. The quest system will continue to grow, providing players with more objectives and story-driven experiences.

A major goal is to expand the map by introducing an entirely new kingdom, opening up fresh environments to explore. Beyond that, I aim to keep building on these features, adding even more content and systems to create a deeper, more engaging RPG experience over time.
