The problem the solution solve
Respirator are complex devices that take time to be manufactured.
The solution
Making a respirator easily manufacturable from standard part, metal sheets and standard electronic.
An Ambu-Bag is periodicaly pressed by a rod. The Tidal volume is set by the position of the bag support, when the BPM and the IE Ratio is set by the rotation of the motor. An electrical circuit monitor the whole system with pressure and flow sensors, and the associated alarms (we can imagine replacing the board by another control system which can regulate a motor)
The work done in this week-end
- Improvement of the mechanical part (first draft advanced at 80%)
- The electrical schematics (done at 60%, some parts like watchdogs and battery backup are still missing)
- First draft of a control software for the whole system
Solution impact in the crisis
This solution can be a backup in case of a sudden growth of the sickness, which can be deployed in a variety of context.
What is needed next
Time to finish the design and a team with manufacturing and testing capacities to make a first prototype
Impact after the crisis
This solution may be usefull in a dispensary, or in a rural context where going to an hospital can take a too long time.
