Inspiration

Our inspiration was the result of the current Covid-19 pandemic. We observed as teens mental health issues in other teens and adults. We wanted to create an app where teens were not afraid to contact for help. In the past decade a many teens have suffered from bully up to the point of committing suicide. This is a big problem for this generation. Many teens don’t want to go to therapy or even to talk to their own family about it because they feel bad for themselves. We are going to solve that by helping them talk to a professional using their own phone. This is important because we are trying to help others and at the same time stopping the bully by helping them understand why is not right.

What it does

Provide immediate help for teens with suicide and any other mental health issues. Now there is a way to help those shy or afraid to interact with professionals in mental health during this pandemia.

How I built it

We built it by thinking of an idea, then we worked on creating the design, and then worked on the coding part to give it functionality .

Challenges I ran into

Some challenges we faced were compatibility issues with the IOS platform on I-Phone models, integration, and support in reference to making the app function properly. We learned that testing the app was important in the development process. We ended up testing/creating different versions of the app before we arrived to the final product.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We were proud of the way our team worked together to make the final product. From idea to completion.

What I learned

We learned how to collaborate as a team. We also learned new resources on how to help teens that are struggling during these times and feel alone. Even when suicide is a big problem in our society, we have to dig deeper into it and look out for a solution. Not only a solution, but a way to help without sharing your identity. It is available for adults to use too. ## What's next for Anonymous Help 101 Guide We want to work on updates to expand the app, for example configure it to schedule a text message quote to be sent directly to user for motivation. We want the app to work with any smart watch so the user can have access at anytime. Another idea is to add positive messages, adding new tools to contact, reaching to a charity to support, and to reach out world-wide, as mentioned first not only for teens, but for everyone.
