Inspiration

For years, I have created spontaneous sounds, glyphs, paintings, diagrams, stories, and symbolic systems as ways of exploring experiences that often arise before ordinary words. They may come as a complete block of thought, almost like a memory that leaves an impression before I can explain it.

A feeling may first arrive as color, movement, rhythm, bodily sensation, a dream image, or an unfamiliar sound. I wanted to create a place where those fragments could be explored creatively without forcing them into one fixed interpretation.

Ankhoric Storygate began with a simple question:

What if someone could enter with something they cannot yet explain and receive a story, symbolic structure, and reflection that helps them see it from a new perspective?

What it does

Ankhoric Storygate is an interactive symbolic-storytelling and creative-reflection experience.

A visitor can begin with:

  • a spontaneous phrase or phonetic stream
  • a dream or vision
  • a feeling or question
  • a symbol or image
  • an experience that is difficult to explain
  • a sequence composed with original hand-drawn glyphs

The current prototype transforms an entry into several connected experiences:

  1. Resonance Key — an arrangement-sensitive key shaped by the visitor’s selected glyphs and phonetic stream
  2. Story World — a matching genre, world, traveler, companion, recurring signal, and musical atmosphere
  3. Constellation Reading — a core message explored through six relational lenses
  4. Living Map — an interactive constellation showing relationships between sounds, symbols, stories, and creative actions
  5. Personal Codex — a sixteen-chapter experiential book that can be read online, printed, or saved as a PDF
  6. Crystal Keyboard — a visual keyboard for composing phonetic streams from original hand-drawn glyphs

The central journey is:

entry → glyph composition → Resonance Key → constellation reading → Living Map → personal Codex

The Storygate is not intended to diagnose, predict, or declare one supernatural truth. It offers creative interpretation while leaving each visitor as the final authority on what resonates.

What existed before Build Week

Before Build Week, I had already developed the underlying Ankhoric concept, original artwork, glyph collections, phonetic-language principles, handwritten notes, diagrams, stories, and the early vision of a living symbolic archive.

The source material existed across many different forms:

  • hand-drawn glyphs
  • paintings and digital artwork
  • dream and vision journals
  • spontaneous sound streams
  • geometric diagrams
  • symbolic language studies
  • stories and reflective writing

The challenge was not inventing the world from nothing. It was finding a way to let another person enter it.

What I built during Build Week

During Build Week, I used OpenAI Codex with GPT-5.6 to transform this existing creative system into a working interactive web experience.

Instead of attempting to build the entire Ankhoric universe at once, I focused on creating one complete doorway into it.

The resulting prototype allows a visitor to compose an entry with glyphs and sounds, generate a Resonance Key, enter a Story World, explore a constellation reading, interact with a Living Map, and receive a personalized sixteen-chapter Codex.

The experience was designed to work across tablets, mobile devices, and desktop browsers while preserving the visual identity of my original artwork and language system.

How I built it

I worked as the founder, artist, creative director, symbolic-system designer, writer, and experience designer.

I made the central decisions about:

  • the purpose of the experience
  • the Ankhoric symbolic framework
  • the visitor journey
  • the original glyph language
  • the visual identity
  • the storytelling structure
  • the interpretation boundaries
  • the relationship between symbols, sound, story, and reflection

OpenAI Codex with GPT-5.6 helped translate those creative decisions into a functional web experience by assisting with:

  • application structure
  • interface development
  • responsive design
  • interaction logic
  • accessibility
  • testing
  • refinement
  • debugging

The prototype was built using React, TypeScript, Next.js, CSS, responsive-design practices, and interactive storytelling techniques.

Challenges

One of the greatest challenges was translating an intuitive, nonlinear creative system into an experience that would remain understandable to someone encountering it for the first time.

Other challenges included:

  • preserving mystery without making the interface confusing
  • allowing meaning to remain open without becoming vague
  • organizing a large creative universe into one focused journey
  • making complex symbolic material usable on an iPad and mobile screen
  • preserving the artwork while keeping text and controls readable
  • designing relationships between glyph order, sound, story, and reflection
  • distinguishing creative interpretation from diagnosis, prediction, or absolute claims
  • building as a beginner without a traditional software-development background

The project also required me to decide which elements were essential to the first working version and which belonged in the larger future vision.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I am proud that Ankhoric Storygate brings together work that previously lived across separate drawings, notes, sound streams, stories, diagrams, and digital artworks.

The project turns those fragments into a connected experience that another person can enter and explore.

I am especially proud of:

  • creating an interactive Crystal Keyboard from my original glyphs
  • making glyph order part of the generated Resonance Key
  • connecting symbolic input to story, reflection, and visual relationships
  • creating a Living Map rather than presenting each result as an isolated response
  • generating a complete personal Codex from one entry
  • maintaining a clear creative and reflective boundary around the experience
  • building a working application despite beginning Build Week with very little direct experience using Codex

This project also demonstrates how someone without a conventional coding background can use Codex to transform a deeply personal creative system into a functioning interactive application.

What I learned

I learned that building with AI still requires strong human direction.

Codex can help create, test, and improve an implementation, but I still need to define:

  • what the experience is for
  • how it should feel
  • what each feature contributes
  • what the system should never claim
  • how people should move through it
  • which parts of the larger vision belong in the first version

I also learned that a small, complete doorway can communicate more clearly than an unfinished attempt to build an entire universe.

The process helped me understand that my role is not only to provide ideas. It is to direct relationships between language, artwork, interaction, ethics, emotion, and technology.

Responsible interpretation

Ankhoric Storygate is a creative and reflective tool.

Its readings and stories are not presented as:

  • medical or psychological diagnoses
  • scientific conclusions
  • supernatural proof
  • predictions
  • instructions that replace professional care
  • fixed declarations about the visitor

The generated material is intended to support imagination, reflection, storytelling, and personal meaning-making.

Visitors are encouraged to keep what resonates, question what does not, and remain the final authority on their own experience.

What's next

Future versions may include:

  • user accounts and saved Storygate entries
  • a searchable personal Living Atlas
  • deeper interactive glyph construction
  • more relationships between dreams, sounds, symbols, and artwork
  • audio input for spontaneous phonetic streams
  • additional Story Worlds and narrative structures
  • expanding constellation maps
  • personal symbolic timelines
  • collaborative creative journeys
  • book-length narrative experiences
  • an expanding visual archive of Ankhoric language and artwork
  • optional pathways for artists, writers, dreamers, and symbolic thinkers
  • tools for discovering recurring patterns across multiple entries

My larger vision is for Ankhoric Storygate to become a living creative observatory: a place where people can approach what they do not yet understand without being required to immediately reduce it to an ordinary explanation.

Translate what you feel before you have words for it.
