Inspiration
The idea for AniReach started from a simple observation: some things can be extremely useful when needed, but spend most of their time sitting unused.
I started thinking about what happens when this applies to animal-care resources. Items such as carriers, rescue cages, blankets, bowls, food, and other animal-care supplies may already be available with someone nearby, but a person trying to help an animal may not know where to find them when they are needed.
This led me to a simple question:
Why should someone have to buy an item they only need temporarily when someone nearby may already have it?
From this idea, I developed AniReach — a community-driven platform designed to help animal-care resources reach the people and animals that need them.
What it does
AniReach connects people who need animal-care resources with people who have resources they can share.
Users can post a need for an animal-care resource or list a resource they are willing to share. Resources can be lent, bartered, or donated, allowing useful items to be reused instead of sitting unused.
AniReach also introduces AniCoins, a reward system that encourages users to help others. Users can earn AniCoins after successfully helping with a request, which can eventually be used for animal-related rewards or coupons.
The main idea is:
Need → Reach → Share → Help → Reward
How I built it
I focused on creating a simple and easy-to-understand experience around the main resource-sharing workflow.
The prototype demonstrates how a user can post an animal-care need, discover an available resource, request it, and complete the sharing process. It also demonstrates the AniCoin reward concept.
I kept the prototype focused on the core problem instead of adding unnecessary features. This allowed me to concentrate on making the main user journey clear and easy to demonstrate.
Challenges I ran into
One of the biggest challenges I faced was finding a way to make the idea different from existing pet-care, marketplace, and animal-rescue platforms.
I found that different platforms already solve individual parts of the problem, such as pet-supply sharing, donations, rescue coordination, or reward systems. Instead of simply recreating one of these services, I focused on bringing these concepts together around one specific problem: getting an available animal-care resource to someone who needs it at the right time.
Another challenge was keeping the project realistic within a limited development period. I therefore focused on the core workflow first and treated advanced features such as real-time location matching and real-world reward partnerships as future improvements.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of turning a simple observation about unused resources into a working prototype with a clear real-world use case.
I am also proud of creating a concept that connects resource sharing, animal welfare, community participation, and rewards in one platform.
Most importantly, I was able to build a prototype that demonstrates the main AniReach workflow rather than leaving the idea as only a concept.
What I learned
Through AniReach, I learned that solving a real-world problem does not always require creating something completely new from scratch. Sometimes the opportunity lies in connecting existing resources, people, and ideas in a more useful way.
I also learned the importance of designing a user flow around a real situation instead of simply creating a collection of features.
Every part of AniReach is centered around one goal:
Helping the right resource reach the right animal at the right time.
What's next for AniReach
In the future, I would like to expand AniReach into a larger animal-welfare resource network.
Some of the features I would like to add include real-time location-based matching, verified rescuers and volunteers, trust and reputation systems, emergency notifications, and multilingual support so that people can use AniReach in their preferred language.
I would also like to build partnerships with animal shelters, veterinary clinics, pet-care organizations, and local rescue groups. Real AniCoin rewards could be introduced through these partnerships, allowing users to redeem their contributions for useful rewards or choose to donate them toward animal welfare.
The long-term goal of AniReach is to make it easier for anyone to help an animal in need by making useful resources, people, and support accessible when and where they are needed, regardless of language or location.
