⚔️ About the Project: Anime Faction Blitz

🌟 Inspiration

Anime Faction Blitz was born from a love of anime rivalries and the vibrant Reddit community. I wanted to create a game that fused iconic anime battles with interactive Reddit gameplay — something that felt fast, fun, and deeply rooted in fandom. The idea of factions competing for dominance felt natural, especially when paired with recognizable powers like Rasengan, Kamehameha, and Domain Expansion. Reddit’s Developer Platform and Kiro’s automation tools made it possible to bring this vision to life.

🎮 What It Does

Anime Faction Blitz is a faction-based arcade game built for Reddit. Players choose one of 10 anime factions and compete in three challenge types:

  • Sword Duels: Reflex-based tapping challenges with glowing energy orbs.
  • Superpower Combos: Memory and sequence games using iconic anime techniques.
  • Knowledge Battles: Trivia challenges across multiple anime universes.

Players earn XP, climb leaderboards, and contribute to their faction’s health bar in seasonal battles. The game is mobile-optimized, visually immersive, and plays directly inside Reddit posts.

🛠️ How We Built It

The game was built using:

  • Frontend: React + TypeScript with Tailwind CSS for responsive design.
  • Backend: Express + Redis for real-time data and season management.
  • Devvit Web: Reddit’s platform for interactive post integration.
  • Kiro: Used for hooks, specs, and steering logic:
    • factionXP.yaml tracks XP contributions.
    • arcadeChallenge.yaml defines challenge rules.
    • leaderboard.yaml ranks factions dynamically.
    • Hooks automate XP updates and leaderboard refreshes.
    • Steering guides users through faction selection and challenge flow.

🚧 Challenges We Ran Into

  • Balancing Gameplay: Designing challenges that were fun but not overwhelming took multiple iterations.
  • Faction Health Logic: Creating a dynamic health system that reflected real-time activity required custom Redis logic.
  • Kiro Directory Management: Ensuring the /.kiro folder was correctly structured and not ignored in Git was critical.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: Making sure the game felt smooth on mobile devices while retaining visual flair was a constant focus.

🏆 Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

  • Built a fully functional arcade game playable inside Reddit posts.
  • Created a faction system with real-time XP tracking and seasonal loyalty.
  • Designed immersive anime-themed splash screens and challenge animations.
