Animated Debug Duck

Inspiration

Trying to combine electronics and software in an environment and usecase that software engineers and programmers would appreciate.

What it does

Plays on programmers affinity for rubber ducks for support but empowering them to provide real support.

How we built it

Developed a PRD with Perplexity research, and Gemini for bringing ideas together into cohesive PRD. From this PRD a comprehensive plan was produced and claude code was used to develop the code whilst I put the electronic components together.

Challenges we ran into

Transferring files to the raspberry pi via SSH. Raspberry PI being on Debian (Trixie) but camera module could only work using Raspberry Pi bookworm with picamera2.

Achieving a working Raspberry Pi and product as a solo developer

How to use a Raspberry Pi. How you can use opensource ML models to help create real solutions such as the FER model and VOSK.

What's next for Animated Debug Duck

Create a physcial rubber duck using a 3D printer and a bluetooth module for communication to bring the duck into the real world.
