Inspiration

My youngest kid absolutely loves all things animals and loves the Echo. I knew he'd love to make some silly faces using the device.

What it does

One or more people go up to their echo device and say, "Alexa, open animal faces." Then silly face after silly face is presented on screen.

How I built it

I used lambda javascript. My app uses the Justin Polly voice as well as a ton of sounds from the sound library.

Challenges I ran into

There was a bit of a learning curve for APL because it's so new. Luckily users in the slack room and making their own great introductions.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

My kids absolutely love playing with the skill. It's hard to take them away from it.

What I learned

I now know the basics of APL and am inspired to make more Alexa Skills.

What's next for Animal Faces

I'll add more animals to the skill. I'm also planning on using what's in the skill so far as an "intro pack" and charge for a premium pack with a lot of different faces.
