[IP] Animal Discord Bot

Inspiration

We wanted to build a simple Discord bot to provide animal lovers an easy access to animal's information and images.

What it does

The bot responds to certain commands, including facts, pictures, and articles.

How we built it

We used Python to script the bot and have it respond to several commands. Moreover, we made use of several APIs for several of the commands. Additionally, we hosted the bot onto a Google Cloud server.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Getting the actual Google Cloud account to be made.
  2. Getting the commands to output correctly.
  3. Getting the bot to respond to commands.
  4. Learning source control (GitHub) for the first time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. WE MADE A DISCORD BOT.
  2. Working as a team.
  3. Hosting the bot 24/7.

What we learned

  1. Learning how to use APIs effectively with web requests.
  2. Learning how to make new Discord bot commands.

  1. Even more animals!
  2. Adoption locations recommendations.
  3. Links to organizations or articles with saving animals as a purpose.
