Inspiration

Despite the potential for a promising startup landscape in Cambodia, only a small percentage of startup founders (4%) are able to secure loans from banks or receive government subsidies due to the country's limited financial infrastructure. This makes it difficult for banks to determine the creditworthiness of startup founders, leading to a high number of loan rejections. We want to help solve this problem

What it does

We algorithmically surface early-stage startups solving problems that prospective investors are personally passionate about. Current panda bank customers who are mostly made up of young people would be more open to a unique investment opportunity in startups with possibly higher returns compared to traditional investment schemes. With angkor.fi, it would be easier to usher in international investors who would like to invest in local startups, collect leads, and cross sell other banking products from panda bank. We algorithmically surface early-stage startups solving problems that prospective investors are personally passionate about.

As for Startup Founders, We make it easy for and incentivize startups to adopt industry leading best practices for communicating with potential investors in a way that leads to conversion and retention. We boost our recommendation algorithm for startups that use our platform to share at least monthly updates with their investors

What we learned

My team was able to learn a lot while participating in the hackathon, particularly about fintech and blockchain technology. We gained valuable hands-on experience working with these cutting-edge technologies, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals and brainstorm creative solutions to complex problems. We also will be getting the chance to pitch our ideas to industry experts and receive feedback on our work. Overall, the hackathon provided a unique learning opportunity that allowed my team to deepen our understanding of fintech and blockchain, as well as develop valuable skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and communication.
