Inspiration
The project is inspired by Anghjula Dea, a Corsican song that evokes an old, unextinguished love. From this emotional arc, we built an entire steampunk universe where two extraordinary souls — an ingenious inventor and a near-divine priestess — love, lose, resist, and rise again. The aim was to amplify the song’s burning passion by giving it a world large enough to contain it.
What it does
The film transforms the Corsican ballad into a romantic adventure with mythic undertones. It follows the reunion of Anghjula Dea and the inventor, revealing their shared past, their sacrifice, and the impossible love that still binds them. The imagery blends mechanical wonder, sacred ritual, and emotional intensity to echo the song’s longing and fire.
How we built it
All imagery was crafted with Dreamina AI, weaving together: Ornate steampunk machinery, gears, and brass temples Mystical iconography surrounding the High Priestess Adventurer–inventor aesthetics inspired by 19th-century exploration A colour palette of gold, ember, and shadow to mirror desire and destiny The montage was aligned with the neo-classical reorchestration, letting the music dictate rhythm, tension, and emotional crescendos.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was creating a full narrative world from a song that offers only raw poetic emotion and very few anchors for a scenario. We had to give depth, past, and purpose to two characters who exist in the lyrics mainly as longing. Balancing their mythic aura with a hint of irony helped prevent the story from becoming overly solemn.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a universe where the lovers’ connection feels both intimate and legendary. Anghjula Dea emerges as a mystic, sensual, and untouchable figure, while the inventor becomes a hero worthy of her — brilliant, wounded, and driven. The blend of steampunk univers and emotional storytelling gives the film a distinctive signature within the anthology.
What we learned
We learned how to expand a simple emotional theme into a multi-layered steampunk epic without losing the essence of the original song. We refined ways to give characters depth — past, flaws, spirituality, humour — starting from almost no narrative source. The project taught us how to merge myth, machinery, and passion into a cohesive visual language.
What's next for Anghjula Dea
This film should join the larger anthology of Corsican reinterpretations and later be part of a live performance series, where music, story, and visuals will merge into a theatrical, immersive experience. It could be also the source of a novel and/or a film format cinema.
