Inspiration
Whenever a person is feeling stressed, they are often left to seek help from others. But what happens if they want to stay alone? Our app provides users with the opportunity to receive mental health while allowing them to remain in their comfort zone.
What it does
Anchor is a private mental wellness companion that works on your device, paired with a bedside Arduino sleep monitor. It links your sleep patterns to your feelings and helps you reflect on yourself. There’s no social feed, no unwanted accounts, and no data leaves your phone.
- Pattern Detective finds the hidden reasons for your moods. It analyzes sleep, mood, energy, and journaling over the past few days using real lagged Pearson correlations, allowing you to explore any insights.
- Emotional Weather Map presents your history as a living landscape you can revisit, with a gentle forecast — “a forecast, not a fate.”
- Personal Experiments lets you be the scientist of your own well-being; Anchor creates a plan from the data you already gather and provides an honest verdict.
- The Decompression Chamber is a guided nightly brain dump where you sort each thought into act, release, or feel. The room's RGB lamp dims to darkness as you finish.
- Values Compass, The Mirror, and Energy Budget are tools to help you live more authentically, notice patterns in your writing, and manage your mood.
- The Arduino sleep monitor tracks temperature, humidity, light, noise, motion, and presence and sends real bedroom conditions to your phone, making sure your sleep data reflects what actually happened that night.
- An on-device AI crafts a personal morning briefing and localized reflections in 20 languages. A care layer keeps crisis and professional support just one tap away, because Anchor is a companion, not a clinician.
How we built it
We used the CLI of Claude to assist us in our coding project. We also ran multiple complex terminal commands to find add the multiple package dependencies. Additionally, we had to watch many tutorials teaching us how to wire our Arduino project
Challenges we ran into
Connecting the Arduino to the App on our phone was an excruiating task. This required countless workaround and tries because we didn't have a BLE.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
After many succesful attempts, we were proud of connceting the Arduino to our mobile app. We are also very proud of succesfully wiring the Arduino FIRST try.
What we learned
We learned how to connect multiple pieces of hardware and software through localhost and other runners. We also learned how to use Capacitator.
What's next for ⚓️ Anchor - Your Mental Health Guide
- More to Android too
- Establish a better connection between the Arduino and the phone
- Add more features to our app and establish more complex hardware and connect the two.
