Inspiration

I created Anchor because anxiety and panic attacks are something I have personally experienced.

During difficult moments, I often wished for one simple and calming place that could help me slow down, breathe, and feel grounded. I wanted to create that kind of support for other people who may feel overwhelmed or alone during a panic attack.

What it does

Anchor is a simple web app designed to provide immediate support during moments of anxiety and panic.

It includes guided breathing exercises, grounding techniques, calming affirmations, and clear explanations of what may be happening in the body during a panic attack.

The goal is to help the user pause, focus on the present moment, and regain a sense of calm and control.

Anchor is not a replacement for professional medical or psychological help. It is a supportive tool that can be used during difficult moments.

How I built it

I built Anchor during OpenAI Build Week using Codex and GPT-5.6 together with modern web technologies.

Codex helped me develop the application, organize and improve the code, refine the interface, and solve technical problems during development.

GPT-5.6 helped me improve the wording, structure the supportive content, and make the experience clearer, calmer, and easier to understand.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges was creating an interface that feels calm and simple rather than overwhelming.

During a panic attack, even small decisions can feel difficult, so I wanted every section to be easy to find and use. I also had to make sure that the language felt supportive without making medical promises.

Accomplishments

I am proud that I turned a personal experience into a functional project that may also help other people.

I created a working web app with several practical tools that can be accessed quickly during stressful moments.

What I learned

I learned how important simplicity, clear language, and thoughtful design are when creating a mental health support tool.

I also learned how Codex can support the full development process, from building and improving the application to debugging and refining the user experience.

What's next

In the future, I would like to add audio guidance, more breathing and grounding exercises, additional language options, accessibility improvements, and an easier way for users to personalize the experience.
