Inspiration
My life has been full of challenges. At the age of 14, I moved to another country, leaving my family behind, and had to face the difficulties of life on my own. It was tough, but mindfulness always supported me. It helped me take care of myself, maintain inner balance, and find the strength to move forward.
When I started studying graphic design, the coursework was incredibly intense and exhausting. Many of my peers experienced burnout and struggled to keep going. But I managed to stay energized and inspired, thanks to the care I gave to my mental and emotional well-being. This experience inspired me to create a project that could help others in a similar way.
What I Learned
While working on this project, I realized that simplicity and accessibility are key. Mindfulness can sometimes feel complex and time-consuming, but I believe it can be transformed into something fun and engaging. I learned how to combine modern technologies with human needs to create a tool that is practical and meaningful for everyone.
How I Built It
Initially, I envisioned this project for students, with VR headsets available in colleges to help them manage stress. But as the idea evolved, I started imagining how it could also work in hi-tech offices, where VR headsets could be as common as coffee machines.
As I developed the project further, I thought about how amazing it would be if this application could be used everywhere: in schools, universities, workplaces, nursing homes, hospitals—anywhere people need a moment of calm and support. That’s how Ananda was born—a tool that helps people quickly regain balance using the most effective techniques from psychology, psychosomatics, and mindfulness.
Challenges Faced
The biggest challenge was creating virtual environments that truly calm and relax the mind. This involved carefully designing every element, including:
- The right voice for guided sessions, ensuring it was soothing and reassuring.
- Background music that complemented the experience without being distracting.
- A calming color palette to evoke feelings of safety and peace.
- Immersive soundscapes that resonate deeply and help users feel grounded.
It wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about creating an experience that feels authentic and effective. Balancing all these components while ensuring the application remained easy to use required a lot of iteration and attention to detail.
But I believe challenges are an essential part of the journey. Every problem I solved brought me closer to making Ananda the tool that can truly improve people’s lives.
