Inspiration
I've always had a fond love for theatre. Seeing as the theme was entertainment, it was a fitting choice to make a game related to theatre.
What it does
An Ode to Theatre is basically a Point and Click type room escape-esque game. You need to complete certain stage management tasks in the backstage area by solving challenging puzzles. The puzzles require you to collect clues, find keys and solve codes! Once, you are done with the backstage tasks, the play begins!
How I built it
I built it using Unity. Scripting was done entirely in C#. I made almost all the sprites and videos during the hackathon period only on Procreate.
Challenges I ran into
LACK OF TIME!! There were supposed to be 2 acts in the play (levels), and the play itself was supposed to be a visual novel with multiple endings. Making the assets took me a huge time since I (naively) decided to draw them myself, so I wasn't able to focus completely on making the game itself.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
While the game itself isn't quite where I expected it to be, it still looks the way I wanted it to (aesthetically), and still reflects the passion I have for theatre.
What we learned
Learnt a lot about Unity. This was my first big gaming project.
What's next for An Ode to Theatre
More levels. A visual novel style play. And an overall better experience. So keep an eye out for updates ;)
