Inspiration
We wanted to create a travel platform that feels like a journey itself—not just another website for browsing destinations. Our inspiration was to combine beautiful travel visuals, smooth animations, and an intuitive experience to make discovering destinations exciting and memorable.
What it does
My Journey helps users discover destinations, explore travel experiences, search and filter places, and access travel and booking information through an engaging and interactive interface.
How we built it
We built My Journey using Next.js, Node.js, Supabase, GSAP, and modern web technologies. GSAP powers the animations and transitions, while the backend and database handle dynamic travel data and application functionality.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was creating animations that looked impressive without making the website slow or difficult to use. We also had to balance visual creativity with responsive design, performance, and real-world functionality.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a visually engaging travel experience with smooth animations, responsive layouts, interactive destination exploration, and a modern interface that feels more like an immersive journey than a traditional travel website.
What we learned
We learned how to combine UI/UX design, animation, frontend development, backend APIs, and database integration into one complete product. We also learned that great animations need to support the user experience rather than simply exist for visual effects.
What's next
We plan to make My Journey even more immersive by adding richer destination experiences, smarter recommendations, improved booking functionality, interactive maps, and more advanced animations while continuing to optimize performance and accessibility.
