The project was inspired by the gambling scene featured in Iron Man. More specifically, the confidence and carefree attitude of Tony Stark - and how it could be achieved. This inspiration manifested itself as the Amogus Bot we have created, giving its user the confidence to make daring moves in the most dangerous circumstances (legality in question).
When building this project, we advanced our skills in handling embedded systems. We learned how to use BLDCs, wireless control, and camera streaming as best as we could within the constrained time frame. The electronics for this project contain two microcontrollers that communicate wirelessly with one acting as the controller and the other acting as the main system. We faced a number of both mechanical and electrical challenges that hindered our progress greatly. As a result, we were forced to cut planned features to work on more important progress milestones. The electrical/computer challenges included topics such as joystick/servo control logic, power considerations, and connecting modules to WiFi. For the mechanical aspect of our project, we were forced to find workarounds to advanced CAD designs such as differentials, struggled with keeping our gears coupled, and spent lots of time figuring out a design that balanced simplicity and functionality.
