American Sign Language Detection

This project aims on helping the hearing impaired community by translating the symbols into text.

Inspiration

I read a post online saying how there's no app for translating sign language despite the world continuously advancing which made me realize maybe I can do something for them.

What it does

Its a simple model that use the camera to detect hand signs and convert them to appropriate text.

Challenges we ran into

Letters like D and Z are very similar but I was able to resort the issue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It is able to detect all the letters accurately and I have even have added signs like space, delete and nothing

What's next for American Sign Language Detection

This model is far from complete and a prototype which I aim to complete so that it can translate proper sentences and then into a fully developed app that can help the hearing impaired community.
