Targeting the American Airlines challenge and as potential passengers looking to book a flight, how do we streamline the booking process for passengers?

What it does

Using real-time tracking, passengers can view seats and overhead storage that have been taken or are still available whether they booked in advance and when the flight is almost set for departure. Passengers can view the activity through their phones or on the web to see availability to ease stress if passengers are late and so passengers can quickly be seated. Flight attendants can also check the tracking activity as well to assist any passengers and perform their duties faster.

How we built it

We created a 3D model of the 231 Neo Airbus with the interior seating to develop an aerial plan view to display seating and overhead bin storage. Using Javascript for the website and Python for hardware, the information from the 3D model and plan view was translated to be displayed on the website.

Challenges we ran into

Using a 3D model to incorporate into the framework and making things connect.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Launching and hosting the site to display flight information and seat/overhead bin availability.

What we learned

We learned how much that can be created in a short period of time and understanding how to use 3D models in conjunction with the site.

What's next for American Airline Booking

Incorporating this tracking activity feature for smart digital kiosks to be placed near the gate/terminal so boarding groups can view overhead bin availability while they are waiting on earlier boarding groups.
