Inspiration
Financial and administrative systems need clear business rules, traceable transactions, and reliable accounting workflows. Ameen ERP is an ongoing engineering project exploring a structured accounting backend for organizations operating in Yemen and the Gulf region.
What it does
The current, partial backend implementation covers selected accounting and administration capabilities:
- Company, branch, account, fiscal-period, currency, exchange-rate, and cost-center foundations.
- Journal workflows covering draft, approval, posting, and reversal.
- Audit records, outbox processing, and safeguards against duplicate commands.
- Trial balance and general-ledger reporting with relevant filters.
- Recurring-journal templates that generate drafts by accounting period.
The repository also contains planning, API contracts, diagrams, traceability material, and a backlog for additional modules.
How I built it
The backend uses C#, .NET 10, ASP.NET Core Web APIs, and SQL Server, organized into Domain, Application, Infrastructure, and API layers. The repository includes database versioning scripts, business and optional integration tests, engineering documentation, and GitHub Actions validation workflows.
Engineering challenges
Accounting software requires careful handling of transaction lifecycles, reversals, permissions, consistency, multi-company boundaries, and explainable records. The work emphasizes explicit business processes, testable API behavior, traceability, and incremental implementation rather than a rushed feature-complete claim.
Accomplishments and lessons
The repository documents a partial implementation of core ledger-related workflows alongside structured requirements and validation procedures. A key engineering principle is to separate what has been implemented and tested from what remains planned or needs further verification.
What's next
Expand the remaining accounting and operational modules, strengthen automated and integration tests, refine role/organization boundaries, and build the user interfaces after backend foundations mature.
Project status and source
Status: In progress — not production-ready. This is a portfolio entry for an active engineering project, not a submission to a hackathon. It is not presented as a fully deployed commercial ERP.
