Package-thief videos are everywhere, and people love seeing justice served. This short flips that viral format into a cinematic, comedic beat built around timing and payoff.
What it does
It recreates the feel of real security footage but adds a fictional twist: instant karma. The whole story unfolds in seconds, making the punchline hit fast and clean.
How we built it
AI generated multiple angles—doorbell cam, street cam, and slow-motion cutaway shots. Editing emphasized comedic timing: the grab, the confidence, and the sudden reversal.
Challenges we ran into
Maintaining realism was key. Too clean, and it looks fake; too messy, and viewers lose the joke. Getting the thief’s motion consistent across angles was the main challenge.
Accomplishments we're proud of
The timing lands beautifully. Viewers immediately recognize the visual language of “porch pirate fails,” making the twist feel both expected and surprising.
What we learned
Comedy in micro-format depends on setup-speed and payoff precision. The joke must be readable even with no dialogue.
What's next for Instant Karma
A series of viral-format “justice moments”—bike thieves, mailbox vandals, parking spot stealers—each with a unique karma twist.
