Inspiration
The usage of voice assistants such as Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant in the e-commerce environment is an inexpensive and effective way to bring online shops into the households of (potential) customers. Depending on the involved solution and the effort, the voice assistant binds users to the brand and opens up an additional sales channel: "Alexa, buy Tchibo coffee."
Providing virtual assistants creates a communication bridge between the user and the Tchibo e-commerce platform. Compared to advertising and newsletter campaigns, interactions with Alexa & Co. has a significantly higher conversion rate.
What it does
The Tchibo Flash Briefing Skill brings the daily updated Tchibo world to Amazon Alexa Devices and thus to customers' living- and bedrooms. Just say: "Alexa, give me my flash briefing"
How I built it
- I thought of an idea.
- I tried it for few evenings.
- I put the final source code on a web host.
- I submitted the Tchibo Flash Briefing Skill to Amazon Developer Portal
- I waited for certification and approval by Amazon
- Skill approved!
Challenges I ran into
- Tchibo Hackathon API is only for articles/products. What can I do with it?
- What added-value should provide the add-on, so that people like and use it?
Achievements I'm proud of
Every morning I let Alexa announce what's new at Tchibo ecosystem ;)
What we learned
- Tchibo does not have an official API for their online shop
- Tchibo has a nice podcast 👍
