Inspiration

I wanted to create a portfolio that feels like me, not just a place to display projects and skills, but a small digital space that reflects my personality, creativity, and love for the internet. I was inspired by cosy aesthetics, handwritten details, soft colours, and the idea that even a professional portfolio can feel personal and playful.

What it does

Amayl's Portfolio introduces me as a software engineer and showcases my projects, technical interests, and ongoing work. It gives visitors project descriptions and links to explore my work, plus ways to connect with me through GitHub, LinkedIn, and email.

How we built it

I built the portfolio using React and CSS. I used reusable React components to organise the page and custom CSS to create its visual identity, including a soft colour palette, handwritten typography, and a cosy, minimal layout. I also experimented with scroll-triggered animations and responsive styling to make the experience more interactive.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was balancing creativity with usability. I wanted the portfolio to feel visually distinctive without making it difficult to navigate. Getting layouts, spacing, animations, and responsiveness to work together also required experimentation and adjustments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of creating a portfolio that reflects both sides of me: a software engineer who enjoys solving problems and a creative person who loves thoughtful visual details. I also enjoyed bringing the design to life through code instead of relying on a generic portfolio template.

What we learned

This project helped me practice building interfaces with React, refining layouts with CSS, and experimenting with animations and responsive design. More importantly, it taught me that a portfolio can communicate personality and creative thinking just as much as technical skills.

What's next for Amayl's Portfolio

I plan to continue refining the responsive experience, polishing animations, and adding more projects as I build them. I also want to explore more creative interactions that make the portfolio feel memorable while keeping it accessible, intuitive, and easy to navigate. I also plan to add more sections like skills and achievements.
