Note: Amascone.com is not a real website
Inspiration
We started our project in the hopes of making a game that could educate people about the dangers of cyberattacks in a fun and interactive way. From there we kept stacking ideas until we got Amascone.com (Amascone.com is a mix of the words Amazon and scone)
What it does
Amascone.com is an interactive game where users defend their "personal files" from viruses. The game and presentation aim to raise awareness about cybersecurity for the general public in a fun and interesting way. The game first starts with an obviously sketchy website, and once the player clicks their mouse three times, the hacking is on! The player must shoot the viruses, before they reach their files and corrupt the player's computer!
How we built it
We built this program on an application called "Intellij" using Java and ran it on our local compiler. Graphics for the final boss, Amascone page, and transition scenes, were made either using CSP or Canva.
Challenges we ran into
At first, we had many ideas, but had trouble finding a platform in which to actually create those ideas. Once starting to code the game, we struggled with figuring out game and code logistics, as well as errors in the code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Overall, this was a very collaborative project. There was a lot of going between the different aspects of the game, and we truly feel that every member provided something special to the project. Though it is not perfect, we are proud that we have a finished product to present.
What we learned
Throughout the course of this project, we learned the importance of time management and collaboration. Since this was a 24 hour long project, we slept in shifts so that there were people working at all times.
What's next for Amascone.com
We hope to provide a few updates in the future, to make the actions more fluid, and maybe add more levels. And I guess I could fix the drawings a little (Though I think the bad linework has a certain appeal to it). The still transition scenes and graphics are files that are only visible on one computer, so we can also work to make them accessible across all devices in the future.
