🌟 Inspiration

Our inspiration for "Amani" came from the overwhelming need to support underprivileged communities in Africa. We were moved by stories of resilience and strength but also saw the gaps in resources and opportunities that hinder progress. We envisioned a platform that not only facilitates aid but also celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of Africa.

🚀 What it Does

"Amani" is a multifaceted platform designed to bridge the gap between the needs of underprivileged Africans and the global community eager to help. Users can start fundraisers, donate money, resources, or food, and provide mentorship to children. The platform also features inspirational stories from various African individuals and tribes, highlighting the continent's diversity and strength.

💡 How We Built It

We built "Amani" using a combination of Flask for the backend, integrating MongoDB for database management. The frontend was crafted with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap to ensure a responsive and user-friendly interface. We also utilized APIs to create an interactive live map of the African continent, allowing users to engage directly with specific countries and NGOs.

🚧 Challenges We Ran Into

One of the main challenges was implementing the live map with real-time data integration. Ensuring that donations reached the right hands required robust verification mechanisms. Additionally, creating a seamless user experience across different devices while handling various forms of donations was quite complex.

We are immensely proud of the live map feature, which not only informs donors about the specific needs of each region but also promotes transparency and trust. Successfully integrating multiple forms of donations and ensuring a secure platform for transactions has been incredibly fulfilling. Most importantly, the feedback from initial users about the platform's impact has been heartening.

We plan to collaborate with more NGOs and leverage artificial intelligence to match mentors and mentees more effectively.
