Inspiration

Children face growing online risks, including cyberbullying, harmful messages, suspicious links, and privacy violations. We created SafeSpace AI to help children navigate the digital world safely and confidently through AI-powered safety awareness and guidance.

What it does

SafeSpace AI is a child-focused online safety platform that helps identify potentially harmful messages and suspicious content. It provides risk indicators, age-appropriate safety tips, privacy awareness, and guidance on contacting a trusted adult when needed.

How we built it

We designed SafeSpace AI as a simple, user-friendly web application. The frontend uses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to provide an interactive interface. The safety checker analyzes submitted text to flag potential risks and displays appropriate guidance. The prototype focuses on usability, privacy, and responsible AI-assisted safety support.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was distinguishing harmful messages from harmless conversations without producing too many false warnings. We also needed to present sensitive safety information in child-friendly language while protecting users' privacy and avoiding unnecessary personal data collection.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We developed the concept of a child-friendly safety platform that brings cyberbullying awareness, suspicious-message detection, and practical safety guidance together. We are proud to focus on prevention, privacy, and encouraging children to seek help from trusted adults.

What we learned

We learned how AI can support online safety, why responsible classification matters, and how user-friendly design can make digital safety guidance more accessible. We also learned the importance of privacy-first development and human support when dealing with sensitive situations.

What's next for Alzinex

Our next steps are to improve detection accuracy, integrate a more robust AI text-classification model, expand support for multiple languages, and introduce interactive digital-safety lessons. We also plan to explore educator and parent resources while ensuring that children's privacy and independence remain central to the platform.
