Inspiration
The game is heavily inspired by popular kids show " DORA - THE EXPLORER ". Players are first taught with the concepts of a specific mathematics topic and based on that concepts/topic, he/she has to complete the GAMEPLAY section of the game. All the concepts in previous TEACHING Section are used in GAMEPLAY Section so that all concepts are all understood by players.
What it does
It helps to change the traditional method of rote learning by using digital gamification technology. Players are more hooked up to the content and are less bored as well as they themselves feel more motivated to play the game rather than reading written textbooks or notebooks.
How we built it
We used Construct 3 Game Engine to develop this game. All the asset used in the game are either free to use for eduational purpose or are selfcreated by the team. * Attributions to the assets are given in the projects with their respective links, available in GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
Building player character control, weapon mechanics for player as well as enemies. Enemies AI, Gameplay loop, Upgrade system, Coin system, Wall Building System, animations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are able to provide simple/basic demo showing both the teaching and gameplay loop for the given project concept within the timeframe (Hackthon) .
What we learned
We learned about teamwork, coordination, completing project on limited timeframe, new approach for teaching students that make learning more interactive and fun.
What's next for Alzebra - Making Learning Fun
We are planning to add more variation of enemies and more effective approach for TEACHING Section with more visuals. We are planning to go on for more topics of mathematics like Quadratic equation, trigonometry etc.
