Inspiration

In today's competitive job market, many talented individuals find themselves at a disadvantage due to limited work experience or formal education. This realization sparked the idea for our project: a website dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities for those with minimal qualifications on paper.

We believe that everyone deserves a fair chance at meaningful employment, regardless of their background. Our platform aims to bridge the gap between passionate job seekers and forward-thinking employers who value potential and drive over traditional credentials.

What it does

AltRecruit is a platform that serves as an intermediary between large companies and underprivileged individuals, helping them gain work experience even without a degree.

How we built it

Our project leverages a powerful tech stack to deliver a seamless user experience:

Frontend: Next.js with TypeScript for a fast, responsive interface
Backend: Laravel for robust API development and server-side logic
Styling: Tailwind CSS for efficient, customizable design
Database: PostgreSQL for reliable data storage and retrieval
Deployment: Docker for consistent development and production environments

This combination of technologies allowed us to create a modern, efficient platform that can scale with user demand.

Challenges we ran into

Despite our enthusiasm, the journey wasn't without its hurdles:

Conceptualization: Finding the initial spark of inspiration and refining our idea into a viable project proved challenging. We spent considerable time brainstorming and iterating on our concept.
Time Constraints: Balancing the development of a complex platform with other commitments pushed our time management skills to the limit. We had to prioritize features and make tough decisions to meet our deadlines.
Technical Hurdles: We encountered numerous unexplainable errors throughout the development process. Debugging these issues required patience, persistence, and deep dives into documentation and community forums.
Bridging the Gap: Creating a platform that effectively connects job seekers with non-traditional backgrounds to potential employers required careful consideration of both parties' needs and concerns.

Despite these challenges, we persevered, learning valuable lessons along the way and producing a platform we believe can make a real difference in people's lives.
