Inspiration
Our project idea was inspired by a love for graphic design and wanting to provide accessibility for others when using the software.
What it does
The plan was to have the project be an add-on on the side of the screen, and when clicking an image, a generative AI would generate the ALT text based on machine learning. Then, people with screen readers would be able to hear it, and the ALT text would be able to be added to the images as well in case the project is sent out to other people that use screen readers.
How we built it
Unfortunately, we were not sure how to actually build the project. And so, we created an outline of what we wanted to do with the project on Adobe Express. We brainstormed the best ideas on how we would create and test it, then came up with a comprehensive plan for creation and testing, as if we were actually going to make it.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge, obviously, was the fact that we didn't know how to make anything that we discussed. Additionally, we had to learn about a few other softwares and coding languages that none of us knew.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the idea and the creativity behind it. Even if it's still just an idea, it's still a good start, and we hope that one day we'll be able to take this idea and build on it more.
What we learned
We learned that it's important to be creative. Even if our idea surpassed our limits, we're still proud of the ideas we created and the way that the idea would benefit others.
What's next for ALT Text Add-On Outline
The next step for us is to learn how to take this prototype and make it a reality. We need to learn how to use the programs listed, then learn how to use the languages so that we may move to the actual designing and prototyping phase.
