Inspiration

I’ve always been fascinated by the tension between human creativity and artificial intelligence. People often say that AI lacks soul-but instead of debating it, I wanted to build something that lets the community decide. Alt+Art was born out of that curiosity: a space where human-made art and AI reimaginings can clash, collaborate, and coexist.

What it does

Alt+Art is a social platform where users upload their own artwork, choose AI to remix or reimagine it, and then let the community vote on which version they prefer. It’s an interactive space where creativity meets code, and every image becomes a part of a larger conversation.

How I built it

I built Alt+Art using:

Supabase for user authentication, image storage, and real-time data

Flet to develop a clean, interactive UI with Python

Gemini 1.5 Pro Flash for smart content handling

Imagen to generate stunning AI-enhanced visuals

Compiling all these features and debugging everything within just 2 days took a lot of caffeine, late nights, and rapid problem-solving, but it was absolutely worth it.

Challenges I ran into

Integrating AI models with consistent image quality while keeping performance fast

Creating a user experience that feels intuitive yet powerful for both artists and casual users

Managing uploads and ensuring content moderation in a creative environment

Still a not-so-mature community of flet

And of course… getting everything stable and production-ready in such a short timeframe

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Launching a full-stack creative platform where art meets AI, in just 48 hours

Designing a space where users feel empowered, not threatened, by AI tools

Seeing people genuinely enjoy the challenge of deciding between human and machine-made art

What I learned

Giving users creative control over AI transforms skepticism into excitement

Rapid development is possible with the right tools- Supabase and Flet were key

Deadlines can push creativity and problem-solving further than I expected (especially with enough coffee)

Add artist and AI profile customization

Launch weekly themed challenges to inspire more creative engagement

Implement NFT-style verification to preserve originality and ownership
