Inspiration

Inspired by Tetris 99, we wanted to create a similar "battle royale" for Wordle to play with each other.

What it does

Players can create a lobby and invite others with a code. When the game starts, everyone gets the same Wordle. The concept is that there will be a timer for the game and at the end of the timer, the winner will be the person with the most correct guesses. On top of that, we made it more secure as the original Wordle had the word of the day exposed when you inspect element. We encrypted the word so nobody would cheat or be spoiled.

How we built it

We used Firestore for real-time updates, Node.js for the server and React with Chakra UI for the Frontend.

Challenges we ran into

During the hackathon, we had to read each other's code which can be confusing as we did not add comments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Firstly, we managed to get the multiplayer 5x6 grids to update when Firestore changes. Secondly, we got the multiplayer room creation to work. Lastly, we got the encryption to work.

What we learned

As not everyone was familiar with all the technology used, each of us learnt different technologies within this project.

What's next for Alprom

We would probably want to work on a Wordle Unlimited and Daily Wordle feature so that our website can be used in place of the Daily Wordle. This makes it so no one will be spoiled since the word of the day is encrypted.
