Inspiration
I wanted to build an AI companion that feels human — not just a chatbot. I was inspired by the lack of Arabic-friendly AI tools that work offline.
What it does
Almo AI is an offline-first AI companion with emotional intelligence. It detects your mood, responds with personality, supports voice input/output, and works in Arabic and English — no internet needed.
How I built it
Vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript only. No frameworks. I built the entire thing from my phone — no laptop, no team.
Challenges
Building a local LLM that runs in the browser was the hardest part. Also designing an emotion detection system from scratch without any ML library.
What I learned
That constraints make you creative. A phone-only workflow forced me to write cleaner, simpler code.
