Inspiration

Motivated by my own personal journey of getting sexual harassed, and retaliated against - having to prove my innocence.

75% of sexual harassment cases go unreported. Harvard Business Review article reveals that women who reported harassment faced the following problems:

1) Retaliation - Faced severe consequences, such as a damaged reputation, when they challenged the system. 2) Lack of action - Expected to “trust the system” to resolve their issues; 3) Women think they won't be believed - Ex: 1. Told they had to prove that their experience because they didn't believe it happened, it was uncommon, or significant

What it does

Allyship is transforming the workplace, one ally at a time. Together, we're navigating the waters of workplace equality. Allyship helps to manage reporting, investigation, and resolution of workplace harassment, discrimination, and misconduct incidents and make employees feel heard. Organizations can identify, investigate and handle offensive communications in the early stage, without requiring the victim to report the case to the superior and reduce corporate risk.

Allyship turns technology into hope

1) DEI Training and Education #EmbracingEquity 2) Monitoring and analytics (case management) 3) AI powered Chatbots for support 4) Anonymous encrypted reporting (employee app) 5) Employee feedback

Allyship searches workplace documents, emails and chat: manage issues internally before they escalate. Technology can be used to monitor employee communications and behavior in order to identify patterns of behavior that may be indicative of sexual harassment. The AI inbuilt is also trained to track and analyse bad language and block users. It is encrypted, and available 24/7 and programmed to be non-judgmental unlike humans.

Redefining workplace culture: Ally against sexual harassment with AI, you can report on key culture indicators in a diagnostic framework and reduce risk and claims while improving employee retention & productivity. Collecting, managing, and resolving issues are made simple with our case management tool with streamlined workflows. https://www.businessprocessincubator.com/content/reducing-sexual-harassment-cases-at-the-workplace-and-more-using-ai-technologies/

1)Report as an individual anonymously 2)Report as an individual with name and contact information 3)Report as a group together (safety in numbers)

These platforms can be accessed through a mobile app or a web interface, and can allow employees to submit reports anonymously or with their identity protected and helps defend sexual assault survivors’ autonomy by allowing students to file reports without their name or obligation attached with empathetic employee feedback to track employee satisfaction with our customizable anonymous workplace surveys. AI survey collects info about the case and determines whether the situation classifies as sexual harassment in the workplace. https://www.projectcallisto.org/documentmatch

In 2021, U.S. organizations paid $5.42B for reputational and employment-related litigation and EEOC claims. The average cost to litigate, defend and settle one claim is $160,000. Generates an incident report that the user can hand over to relevant authorities looking for patterns in the AI data. Data-backed ROI that helps lower incident rates, the risk of hefty legal and settlement fees, and overall incident-related costs as protecting survivors’ autonomy is an integral part of the healing process. Ex: Attorney-client privilege to cases. This leverages technology to transform the workplace, one ally at a time.

How we built it

Given the 2 day time constraint, an mvp of the idea was made wit a figma mobile mockup. This is accessible at https://www.figma.com/file/gzfwkpaeuuTPCc49AE3YZ0/Allyship?node-id=28%3A7159&t=UGT5K8fKOKQOrioB-1

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used to address and prevent sexual harassment in the workplace in a number of ways. Here are some possible approaches:

https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/andrewmvd/violence-against-women-and-girls https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/whenamancodes/violence-against-women-girls

Monitoring communication channels: AI can be used to monitor communication channels such as email, chat, and social media to detect instances of sexual harassment. AI algorithms can analyze text and language patterns to identify potentially harassing or inappropriate messages, and flag them for further review or investigation.

Anonymous reporting and chatbots: AI-powered chatbots can provide a confidential and anonymous reporting channel for employees who experience sexual harassment in the workplace. Chatbots can provide information, guidance, and support to employees, and can help connect them with appropriate resources and reporting channels.

Risk assessment and analytics: AI can be used to analyze patterns and trends in employee behavior to identify areas of risk for sexual harassment. By analyzing data such as employee demographics, work history, and job performance, AI algorithms can identify employees who are at risk of experiencing or perpetrating harassment, and help companies take proactive steps to prevent it.

Training and education: AI can be used to provide customized training and education programs for employees and managers on preventing sexual harassment in the workplace. AI-powered platforms can analyze individual learning styles and preferences to create personalized training programs, and can provide ongoing feedback and support to reinforce positive behaviors.

Bias detection and prevention: AI can be used to detect and prevent bias in hiring, promotion, and other employment practices that can contribute to a culture of sexual harassment. AI algorithms can analyze job descriptions, resumes, and other data sources to identify potential biases and recommend changes to reduce the risk of harassment and discrimination.

Real-time reporting and analysis: AI-powered reporting tools can allow employees to report incidents of harassment in real-time, and analyze data to identify patterns and trends. This can help companies identify hotspots for harassment and take proactive measures to prevent it.

Sentiment analysis: AI can be used to analyze employee sentiment and identify changes in behavior that may indicate harassment or other issues. This can help companies intervene early and prevent more serious problems from developing.

Predictive analytics: AI algorithms can analyze historical data to predict the likelihood of future incidents of harassment, and help companies take steps to prevent them. This can include identifying high-risk individuals or teams, or analyzing data from exit interviews to identify areas of concern.

Anonymous surveys and feedback: AI-powered survey tools can allow companies to collect anonymous feedback from employees about their experiences with harassment and discrimination. This can help companies identify areas of concern and take steps to address them, without fear of retaliation or backlash.

Support for victims: AI-powered platforms can provide support and resources for employees who have experienced harassment or discrimination. This can include connecting them with counseling services, legal resources, or other forms of support.

Challenges we ran into

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Choose colors that reflect the app's mission and values, such as blue for trust, purple for empowerment, or green for growth and change. Avoid using colors that may be associated with harassment, such as red or black - Found a cool canvas template
  • Coming up with slogans where the letter A in Allyship is supposed to be a boat (Making waves against harassment together "Together, we're navigating the waters of workplace equality." "Allyship sets sail for a better workplace for all." "Set a course for allyship and navigate towards a more inclusive workplace." )

What we learned

What's next for Allyship
