Inspiration
We created an app inspired by Rootd and Thrive mental health products. It allows users to reflect on and receive personalized feedback on their procrastination habits. Our app uses question prompts to provide an anxiety self-check-in tool that helps users break down negative feelings and offers a list of small, tangible solutions to reduce anxiety levels.
What it does
Allie is carrying many heavy tomatoes on her back!! By taking a tomato from Allie we can remove some of her burdens and ours as well. Toss the tomato into the corresponding ring and receive some tips for mental health!
How we built it
We began by narrowing down on procrastination as the issue we wanted to tackle. Next, we created user flow charts and moodboards to brainstorm the process further. Finally, we began putting together a prototype to display.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to find a specific scenario to best describe and demonstrate our expected app user and AR experience within a limited time. Also, unfortunately, our team had no developers. We were only able to implement a few pieces of the game and we weren't able to completely finish it. When tossing a tomato into the ring, Allie’s text doesn't change, and we're stilling trying to fix the code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have narrowed down our focus and learned to develop our app using 8th Wall in a short amount of time. Based on our design and research experience, we went through a solid brainstorming process and iterated twice to improve the user flow based on mental health research. Additionally, we created a moodboard to further develop the visualization and immersive features.
What we learned
We learned to first narrow down on the topics we wanted to tackle in order to develop a user flow, and to iterate on it if we decide to accommodate other topics. We also learned a bit of 8th wall coding, despite us all being designers.
What's next for Ally
We need to optimize our weaknesses in the visual interface to better help users understand how we can help them reduce their anxiety. At the same time we can incorporate more support in mental health to help them better talk to their own psyche rather than just reaching out for help.
