Inspiration

We have a passion for learning, and wanted to spread that passion to other people. We think a personal, cost effective teaching assistant would be extremely useful for all people to use.

What it does

It scans the internet, compiling both video and text supplemental course material to combine multimodal solutions, teaching more effectively than either one on its own. Generates its own text to help explain videos in an easy to digest manner.

How we built it

For the frontend, we used react to build it, and for the backend we used the OpenAI, Google cloud APIs, as well as the Youtube API. We brought it all together in python.

Challenges we ran into

We found integrating the front and backend very difficult, which led us to create a MVP mockup of the real product. Small struggles like cors errors, passing and updating state, and json errors in youtube transcripts also held us back.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of creating our both sides of the project, although we were unable to bring them together effectively, we still put in a lot of hard work into this project we are proud of. Each part is more than 90% complete, but our group had little experience with the "putting it all together" part.
